DESCRIPTION: The USAID Agriculture Value Chains (AVC) activity is professionalizing local, rural service providers in order to influence rapid uptake of new technologies and practices by smallholder farmers. AVC is doing this by working with private sector firms to help them train and brand individual service providers who are offering services such as irrigating lands, using pesticides, and harvesting equipment. Through the support of AVC, the agri-service providers themselves are improving their incomes and smallholder farmers are also experiencing higher productivity.
